All-Cape, or the All-Cape & Islands Music Festival, is our local-level competitive music festival. Students from across Cape Cod band together at Barnstable High School at the end of January each year and participate in either the concert band, orchestra, mixed chorus, or treble chorus. Auditions are held in November.

There are three components to an All-Cape audition: an audition piece, scales, and sight-reading. Results, including chair and ensemble, and sheet music for the festival are released to students by their band directors a few weeks after the audition. Whether a student enters the band or the orchestra is decided by All-Cape rather than the individual students.
The audition piece forms the main part of the audition. Students have the choice of either performing the piece assigned for the Junior Districts audition or for the Senior Districts audition for their instrument. These pieces change each year, but can be found at the district-level website here. Usually, students earn some extra points for choosing the Senior District level piece.
All students must know the scales that would be required for the Junior District festival. Usually, this is the Eb, Bb, F, C, G, D, and A Major scales in one octave.
All students will be given a portion of a piece they haven't seen before to sight-read at the audition.
The festival takes place over the course of three days, usually the week in which the month changes from January to February. Usually, rehearsals run as follows:
Thursday, 3:00-7:00pm
Friday, 9:00-3:00pm
Saturday, 9:00-1:00pm
Students place into either the concert band, orchestra, SATB chorus, or treble chorus. Students then spend the festival rehearsing with their group, though they can interact with others during breaks.
The All-Cape Concert is at 1:00pm on the last day of the festival. It is open to the public.
The All-Cape Music Festival is organized by the Cape Cod Music Educators Association. More information regarding the festival may be found at www.allcapemusic.com.
